I have set up a YouTube channel to showcase my drawing and painting techniques, create video lessons, art time-lapse videos and more. I don’t have a full plan yet but I hope it is of interest to both artists and art buyers to see how my art comes together and how I develop my skills.
First up is a time-lapse drawing from a Bargue plate. This is something practiced in many ateliers across the globe to help develop the craft of drawing. It is not just about measuring but also quality of mark making. Many art schools will not start a student on painting until their drawing skills have reached a certain level. Although I feel that painting and drawing can be learnt together, I do agree that excellent drawing skills will help in the creation of excellent paintings. I learnt a lot from following the excellent artist, Stephen Bauman on Patreon. Here’s an example of one of my graphite portrait drawings created after following his lessons.
I don’t think I will have time to upload lots of videos at the moment, but I hope you enjoy it and if you find it of use, please subscribe for updates.
I encourage anyone interested in developing their drawing and painting to explore this type of drawing. It is helpful in all styles of art to help train a good eye and the thought process behind making good marks.
