Self Portrait in the Artists Studio 2023

The start of some larger, more involved paintings thinking about composition and narrative more. This portrait represents me in my safe space - the studio where I can let my mind relax from external worries for a while. I have just noticed I am being viewed and not sure how I feel about it. I also used this as a study of strong side lighting, wanting to focus on a realistic approach to painting while keeping painterly elements.

This is my entry for Sky Portrait Artist of the Year 2023.
